Descriptions
One line
The private menu bar odometer for your Mac.
Short
Deskathon sits in your Mac’s menu bar and measures how far your pointer travels, on every display, plus clicks and scroll. It compares the numbers with landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge. Your statistics never leave your Mac.
Long
How far does your mouse go in a day? Deskathon tells you. It lives in the menu bar and measures how far your pointer travels, on every display, scaled by each screen’s real size. It counts clicks and draws a heat map for each display, and it measures how far you scroll. Every number becomes something you can picture: “about 1.3 times the Brooklyn Bridge” today, and “further than London to Paris” for your lifetime total.
History keeps your best days on record, and Lifetime turns your total into a trip between cities, with the Moon as the last stop. Deskathon has Small, Medium and Large widgets for the desktop and Notification Center, with a page of their own in the app, and share cards you can save as an image or send with the share sheet. A short welcome on first launch shows how it counts. It looks and behaves like a Mac app: one window with a sidebar that’s always there and Settings inside it, in light and dark. It speaks seven languages, English, Romanian, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Japanese, and has its own language picker.
It’s private by design. Your statistics never leave your Mac. There’s no account and no ads. Distance, clicks and scroll need no macOS permission. You can optionally count how many keys you press per hour; that’s off until you turn it on, counts only, and never reads which key you pressed.
Deskathon is free to use. Deskathon Pro, a one-time in-app purchase, opens the full history, past heat maps, larger widgets and every share card.

Pro unlocks views. It never gates counting or privacy controls, and everything is stored for everyone, so buying Pro reveals history the user already has.
Privacy
Deskathon keeps your statistics on your Mac. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics SDKs. Pointer distance, clicks and scroll need no macOS permission. Heat maps are drawn on a neutral outline of each display, never a capture of the screen, so Deskathon needs no Screen Recording permission.
Keyboard counting is optional and off by default. Deskathon explains exactly what is counted before macOS shows its standard Input Monitoring prompt. It counts presses only: it never reads which key you pressed, what you type, your passwords, the order of keys or the app you’re typing in, and it stores one number per hour. You can turn it off and delete the counts at any time.
With the optional diagnostics off, Deskathon and its widgets make no network connections. After a crash, Deskathon asks before it sends a report. Error reports and anonymous usage counts are off until the user turns them on, and feedback is sent only when the user presses Send. None of them include the user’s statistics.
Claims you can check: the app’s entitlements are App Sandbox, App Group, network client (for the optional diagnostics) and user-selected files (for CSV export), with no Accessibility, Screen Recording, camera or microphone access.
