What Deskathon is
Deskathon is a menu bar app for your Mac. It counts how far your pointer travels, how often you click and how far you scroll, and, only if you choose, how many keys you press. It shows the result as a distance, compared with landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower or a marathon.
You can see today in the menu bar and in a small panel, look back over days, weeks, months and years, see a heat map of where your pointer went, and put your numbers on the desktop in a widget.
Your statistics are stored on your Mac, in Deskathon’s own folder, and never leave it.
How it counts, in one paragraph
Deskathon watches pointer movement, clicks and scrolling on every display and turns the movement into a real-world distance, using each display’s physical size. It counts only while it’s open, and not while you have paused it, your Mac or its displays are asleep, the screen is locked, or another user’s session is in front. Pointer, click and scroll counting needs no permission. Keyboard counting is optional, off until you turn it on, and counts only how many keys you press each hour, never which keys. How counting works has the details.
Free and Pro
Counting is free, and so are the menu bar item, the panel and the views of today. Pro is a one-time in-app purchase that shows all the history you have already recorded and unlocks the larger widgets and share cards. There is no subscription, and Family Sharing is on. The App Store shows the price for your country.
